I think, Shakita, that you must have been, and still are, a wonderful Mom.
What a horrible place that some of those other mothers and fathers have been put in! To make the choice between your faith and your child. As I have never been there (I'm not JW), I can only imagine the soul wrenching that is involved with the decision. I would never sacrifice my child.

What do Jehovah's Witnesses believe?

Thanks for posting this, Undisfellowshipped. It is difficult finding a concise list of JW beliefs and briefly "why" they believe what they do. Lately several other "worldly "people have asked me this very question.
If you wouln't mind, please include the issue of submissive women. Thanks.

JGnat Says Hi
by jgnat ini have been wandering around the board for a while now, and have decided it is time to contribute a bit of my history.
i have described my involvement with the witnesses as being from the outside looking in.
my sweet honey has been trying for two years to get reinstated.

Welcome to the board, Randy. The mind control that the WT is truly frightening and bewildering.

Do You Know How To Praise Yourself Enough???
by Celtic insome individuals may find it difficult to give themselves compliments and/or personal praise for their accomplishments.
does this apply to you?.
what mechanisms do you employ to pay yourselves individually, the reception, personally of more praise, and compliments?.

Celtic, ...hhhmmm ......interesting that you bring that up. I have been curious about this for a while. As an outsider, I have noticed that Jehovah's Witnesses seem to think that being "humble" is wonderful. It is used as a compliment. What is wrong with pride and joy in accomplishment?? I would find excessive bragging or boastfullness annoying, but certainly not evil in any way. If someone has worked hard at something, and done well as a result, they should be really pleased with themselves....and others should be proud of them for their accomplishment. It acts as positive reinforcement to continue to put the effort in.

Keep it coming.

Paths along the way, after the borg, experiences?
by LyinEyes inall of us who were once jw's have had a hard time trying to find our place in the world.
many have just begun their journey since leaving the borg, only recently.
others have put it far behind them many years ago, even decades they have been away from it.

Some of you have made the same interesting point about how much easier it is if you were not born into the JW . I just read Steve Hassan's"Combatting Mind Control", where he talks about finding the pre-cult identity of the person as a step in helping free them. You don't have a Pre-cult identity.....not wonder you have had a harder time.
Give yourselves credit for the open mindedness and courage it has taken you, to get where you are. Be proud of yourselves and your steps in freedom and happiness.

two ways
by teejay inthe watchtower way is to take a position such as: the moon is made of green cheese.
whether true or not, whether valid or not... the watchtower goes on to give that stated position the full weight of its ecclesiastical authority.. the watchtower, from then on, will build its case on the stated position.
regardless of whatever information comes out that was previously unavailable, the watchtower holds to its stated position.

teejay,
You have put your finger on the most baffling aspect of being a witness. To an outsider looking in, it is the complete mind control, the total inability to look at other information, even if it is logical and makes perfect sense, that just horrifies me. It is this mind control that leads to the shunning and abuses and deaths.
I just shake my head in bewilderment.
